About

Hello!  This is the CuteCrochetZoo a. k. a. Franziska / Fran (for English speakers) / Franci (for Italian speakers and close friends). Please don't call me Franzi (childhood trauma).

What do I do?

With no kids to take care of, no bf, and a job that does not require a gigantous load of overtime, I find myself to be utterly bored and restless at home. That's when I start crocheting... No seriously, crocheting is a great way to be creative while producing meaningful stuff. In my case, that means incredibly cute animals, stuffed figures and bags. And, contrary to popular opinion, not only grannies do it.

Why have I started this blog / tutorial channel?

To share my knowledge! Every time I give away one of my cute creatures, faces light up and that is a huge reward. I want to see the crocheting community's faces light up, too. I want to challenge you. I want to inspire you. And if you decide to share your experiences with me, even better.

How did I start with crocheting and what did I do?

I started when my illness became chronic. Crocheting helped me cope - creating something cute from scratch can give you a great boost! Any creative activity can be theraputical and if you ever find yourself in a difficult situation, I recommend that you start painting, scrapbooking, knitting, etc. Actually, my mother had just started again and pushed a crocheting needle into my hands. "I can't", was the first thing that came to mind (I had failed miserably in primary school). And my first attempts were horrible... but bit by bit, I acquired more experience and routine to the point where I can imitate something by simply looking at it. To learn the basics, I recommend crocheting books. But there is nothing better than the advice of your mom / grannie / older sister :-)

How can I be reached?

If you want to get in touch, write to cutecrochetzoo@gmail.com. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
